    2025 Songwriting Competition

    Entries are now open for musicians of all ages to submit their original song(s) for this year's songwriting competition. 

    Prizes

    • First Prize - $500
    • Second Prize -  $200
    • Third Prize - $100

    APPLICATIONS CLOSE - 5 pm Sunday, 30 November 2025

    You can review entry guidelines and criteria here.

    Once you have paid your $25 entry fee you will receive further instructions about submitting your song(s) to us.

    The top 3 winners may be invited to perform at the Festival on the main stage in The Basin Triangle  - March 2026

Our Aboriginal heritage

The Basin Music Festival Association acknowledges, respects and shares in the customs of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation, traditional custodians of the land on which we hold The Basin Music Festival, and pay our respects to their elders past and present.
We extend that same respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, members of the oldest living culture in the world .  To learn more, go here.
